Crafting
for a Cause
I
finished Catriona’s winter hat and scarf set the other day and started
thinking: “How fortunate are we, to know that our children have warm blankets
and clothes for this fall and winter, and that we don’t have to worry about
them being cold?” There are lots of families that can not say this…There are
many children that don’t have hats, scarves, or mittens and babies may not
have warm blankets to protect them from the cold. All of these thoughts had my
mind swirling… How can I possibly make a difference in this situation? Well,
my solution is to start a crafting group that will be called “Crafting for a
Cause.” If you
knit, crochet, sew, or quilt, this is the perfect group for you! Besides the
fellowship, this is a great opportunity to reach out to the community and help
those in need! Hats and blankets will be made and delivered to local shelters
and hospitals (or families in need), wash rags and potholders for the kitchens,
prayer shawls for those in need, and anything else we can think of!
Crafting
for a Cause’s first meeting will be held after the 10:30 service on Sunday,
August 22nd. This will be a short, “meet-and-greet” kind of meeting to
discuss the purpose and plans for the group, and determine a scheduled time that
is convenient for everyone to meet in the future! Bring ideas and friends with
you! The more the merrier! Donations are being accepted and greatly appreciated!
Donations include: money (to purchase supplies), yarn (any kind), fabric, and
other materials (for a full list, see me). There will be a basket (location to
be determined), for donated materials/supplies. If you would rather make a
monetary donation, see me, Carrie McKinzie, or Pastor Jan for more information
on how to do so. We will have more details on this soon. If you have any
questions at all, please feel free to give me a call at (316)524-5885. Thank you
in advance for your kindness and generosity to those in need!! Let’s make a
difference!
