OUR MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT
Every
woman of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is invited to be part of Disciples
Women.
The choice is encouraged, but is voluntary.
The structure of Disciples
Women offers flexibility and diversity.
Women are a part of Disciples Women in
many different ways. Some attend
meetings regularly.
Some participate in service/action in the congregation, community, and
region and beyond.
Some participate through study and
prayer at home. Many choose to do
all these.
Members of Disciples Women are
connected to the worldwide fellowship of Christians,
to the Judeo-Christian Tradition, through the much
used “missionary benediction”
found Psalm 67.
1
To help one another with our spiritual growth, development and direction
To Listen to one another as we journey in the faith
To Help one another build relationships and to develop leadership in order to work together effectively
To encourage one another in faithful stewardship of all our resources
To answer the call to discipleship and to fulfill the great commission
To
celebrate together in worship and The Lord's Supper.
2
(The
7 Ups – continued)
4. Stand Up!!
for anything.
“Let us not be weary in doing good;
for at the proper time,
we will reap a harvest if we do not give
up. Therefore, as we have
opportunity, let us do good…”
Galatians
6: 9-10
5 Look Up!!
…to
the Lord. “I can do everything through Christ who
strengthens me.”
Philippians
4: 13
6.Reach Up!!
…for
something higher. “Trust in the Lord with all
your heart, and lean not own understanding.
In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct our path”
Proverbs
3: 5-6
23
THE
7 UPS
Wake
up!!
Decide
to have a good day. “This is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be
glad in it.”
Psalms
118:24
Dress
Up!!
The
best way to dress up is to put on a smile.
A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your
looks. “The Lord does not look at
the
things
man looks at. Man looks at outward
appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1
Samuel 16:7
Shut
Up!!
Say
nice things and learn to listen. God
gave us two ears and one mouth, so He
must have meant for us
to do twice as much listening as talking.
“He
who guards his lips guards his soul.”
Proverbs
13.3
22
OUR
PURPOSE
To
provide opportunities for spiritual growth,
enrichment,
education, and creative ministries, to
enable
women to develop a sense of personal
responsibility
for the whole mission of the Church
of
Jesus Christ.
OUR
SCRIPTURE
This
scripture was chosen by our founder, Jessie Trout, who was a former missionary
and Bible
teacher in Japan. She also served as
vice president of the United Christian Missionary Society.
“We
declare to you what we have seen and
heard so that you also may have fellowship with
us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father
and with His Son Jesus Christ.” (1 John 1:3)

3
OUR
PRAYER
Unto
you, O God, we give our thanks and lift our
hearts in prayer. May
your presence be with us and
your love surrounds us as we work together as women
of faith. Open our eyes to the needs of the world and
fill our hearts with concern for all people. Guide us so
that we may truly serve you through Jesus Christ, our Lord. AMEN
OUR BENEDICTION
God, be merciful unto us and bless us and cause
Your face to shine upon us that
Your way may be known upon the earth
Your saving health among
all nations, through Jesus Christ, our
Lord. Amen
We are sisters
We are daughters of God
We are Disciple women.
This is who we are.

THE
FELLOWSHIP OF THE LEAST COIN
The
call to prayer for peace and reconciliation is perhaps even more urgent today
than in 1959 when The Fellowship of the Least Coin began, as Shanti Solomon of
India invited her sisters throughout the world to a fellowship of prayer, with a
“least coin” becoming the symbol of that prayer.
The Fellowship of the Least Coin is a call
to Prayer. For each coin you bring, say Prayer
for Peace with Justice, for reconciliation in
the family, the community, the nation and
world. The “least coins” which symbolize this
prayer
are sent to a common fund, where the
identity of the donor is lost and oneness of
women
in their common quest for peace is symbolized.

Prayer of the Fellowship of the Least Coin
O Loving Creator, we present ourselves in
Your Divine Presence to thank You for all
the bountiful gifts of life. We are especially
grateful for the Fellowship of the Least
Coin, which binds us together in love
and forgiveness around the globe. Free
us from all doubts and prejudices, we pray.
Inspire us to live in solidarity with humankind,
that we may know the joy of giving and
receiving.
Dear God, accept this Least Coin “token of love.”
Make us mindful of the miracles of these coins.
Let us honor Your Creation with love, as shown through the life and resurrection of
Your Son, Jesus the Christ.
AMEN
